Comments, skills and project work

Teacher comments, automatic comments, generic skills and the project mark.

Open a stream, then Comments next to a learner. Everything on this page belongs to one learner for one term.

Class teacher's comment

Write what you want to say. If you leave it blank and your school has Auto class-teacher comment switched on, GradeFlex fills it from the school's comment bands — a table of ranges and sentences you control under Settings → Results.

Anything you write wins. The automatic comment only ever appears where a teacher has not written one, so it saves time on a class of 80 without overwriting the three you cared about.

Head teacher's comment

The second box. Usually written by the administrator once the class teacher has finished. It prints beside the class teacher's comment, and the head teacher's signature and school stamp print on its signature line.

Project work

A single mark out of 100 per learner per term, shown when your school has Consider project work switched on for that class.

It counts. Project work is included in the overall average as though it were an extra subject, so it moves the overall grade, the automatic comment and the position in class. The one exception is AoI-out-of-3 mode, where it is suppressed entirely — a percentage has nowhere to sit on an out-of-3 scale.

Generic skills

Behaviours reported alongside subjects — things like communication, self-discipline or teamwork. Set the list up once under Settings → Skills, then rate each learner here.

  • They print as a single wrapping strip, not one row per skill. Five skills as five rows cost about 35mm of a page that is already tight.
  • A learner nobody rated prints nothing at all, rather than a row of dashes.
  • A skill you retire keeps showing on cards where it was already rated, so an old term still reprints as it was.

Doing a whole class

Work down the stream list — every learner has a Comments button. Use the search and A–Z filter if you are picking up where you left off.
